this might sound silly, but have you tried a couple of paracetamols when you really cannot sleep? It really does help but i only take them when pain prevents me from sleeping.

It doesn't sound silly at all, Linda. Although they don't crack the pain, when I can't sleep (for any reason) I stuff down a couple of cocodamol and usually drop off fairly quickly. It's probably all in my mind, but they do deffo help.

not silly at all ive had my co codamol before bed last 2 nights worked a treat like jean knocked me out well and good. supposed have them then anyway just id tried without lol. thanks linda. melly cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun

Hi I have managed to sleep but lightly the past couple . Last night I stared at the ceiling. My hubby was snoring like a troll. My wrist was throbbing I couldnt get comfortable and my mind starting to wake up and wonder down all sorts of scenarios. I had been out at a friends birthday and had a lovely time and havent been out for ages adn I am quite social so i probably consumed my weeks worth of units in one night! So I was a thirsty and hot cos I am flaring (stiff as an ironing board) and dehydrated. I also ran out of my meds just the hydroxyc and missed the last 2 days worth. How annoying found out just when the chemist had shut and didnt open on sundays. I had an iou from them as they were short in dispensing my prescription adn I forgot.  I now my consultant has arranged via my GP to prescribe the amitriptyline. I think I do need to handle stress better, at least I recognise it for what it is. Perhaps I will try the paracetemol, I am quite similar to Amanda about taking anything else.

Hi all, I'm sorry to hear that a number of you are experiencing sleep problems and really sympathise with you - I think that if I experienced sleep difficulties it would be the last thing to tip me over.... for me sleep heals, even when I'm in pain.
Sometimes a chemical cosh is needed to help break the disruptive sleep cycle, has anyone tried Zopiclone a sleeping tablet, and supposed to be non addictive?

Hi Mrs Woman ahh ive also done that ran out lay there listening to all noises around me,glad your rheumy is getting gp tp prescribe the amitripline should help alot ahs me and alot others also. u may also find ear plugs helpful i got mine at superdrug,for when im not sleepy and need to lol to block out beloved snores. t care hope it improves soon sleep is so essential. lv melly cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun

That brought back memories! They used to use Largactil in prisons...they called it the liquid cosh!  A friend is someone who knows all about you but loves you anyway!

Where do I buy ZOPICLONE!!!!????
I thought there were no sleeping tablets which weren't very addictive!
Will try the herbs the herbalist will prescribe for me next week but may have to take something else, much as I loathe to, in the mean time!

PS; I cannot sleep....Mark is away, children all fast asleep, house making creeping sounds....no way am i going to lie there staring at the wall! LOL

My doctor told me zopiclone are addictive Amanda. He said odd one or no more than three nights, if you take them for a few weeks you get rebound effect. Then they stop working . My doctor said they are all similar. I have taken half a pill when something really important next day but just once in a while. They are prescription only.Also they leave the most awful taste in your mouth the next day. Sorry! Love Kathleen x
